1. How do you define your personal style?
At the foundation my personal style is feminine and timeless. I build from there.

2. Who is your favorite style icon?
Solange Knowles is definitely an all time favorite. She is risky and effortless chic at all times. Generally, I’m just really inspired by black women. We’re incredibly unique and stylish.

3. Do you follow fashion trends?
I follow fashion aesthetics. I don’t really pay attention to trends, but sometimes I notice an aesthetic that compliments my personal style and I’ll purchase one or two pieces.

4. Tell me something cool about yourself.
I’m a huge history/political science buff. I guess that’s cool…lol. I just find the history and politics of black people so fascinating. It’s so important to my identity. I’m so proud to be black because I know our history. The resilience my people fuel me everyday.

5. Who is your favorite designer or brand?
I promised myself that I wouldn’t really focus on designers or brands until I felt like my finances were in a very secure place. I’m not there yet. With that said, there are some very timeless and feminine pieces I’d love to have from Chanel. I also follow black designers such as Tracy Reese, love her work. For now, I shop quality pieces from accessible brands such as H&M, ZARA, Forever21, and ASOS.

6. Name the one thing you never leave home without?
I wish this was a piece of clothing or beauty item but it’s my phone. I’m addicted to social media. As a blogger I feel pressured to stay connected.

7. Name an item every woman should own?
I don’t subscribe to these rules. A woman should own who she is and that’s it. Own what you want…

8. What song sums up your life right now? Why?
Conqueror by Estelle. The last few years of my life have been a roller coaster. I got married, divorced, found a job I love but had no idea existed, started to grow my businesses, and found love again. Right now, I truly feel like a Conqueror. I’d definitely rather stand tall than live on my knees. I know for sure that with faith and character I can conquer anything with my spirit and dignity intact.

9. Do you have a favorite quote?
Of course! Right now my favorite is “Trust yourself. Think for yourself. Act for yourself. Speak for yourself. Be yourself. Imitation is suicide.” – Marva Collins

10. How are you leaving your mark on the world?
I’m leaving my mark on the world by loving myself fiercely and providing other millennial women with the inspiration to do the same.

*Bonus Question: What advice would you give your younger self?

Be patient. Being young and ambitious, you want it all. Don’t apologize for that. But, if you’re not patient, you will end up settling for pseudo versions of what you really want. Take your time, listen to yourself, and put yourself first. With your smarts and work ethic things will fall into place.
